Vault Overview
Your vault is the heart of LockYit - a secure, encrypted container for all your sensitive information.
What is the Vault?
The vault is where all your items are stored:
- Credit cards and bank accounts
- Passwords and login credentials
- Personal documents and IDs
- Secure notes
- Tasks and reminders
- Photos and documents, attached to the items they belong to
Everything in your vault is:
- lock Encrypted with AES-256-GCM
- smartphone Stored locally on your device
- search Searchable without compromising security
Navigating Your Vault
Home Screen
When you open LockYit, you'll see your Home screen that shows your stored items in your vault. You can switch between a grid of cards and a compact list from the Appearance panel (the palette icon), the View menu on a computer, or with ⇧⌘V (Shift+Ctrl+V on Windows and Linux).
The Home title bar also shows whether your vault is synced and backed up. See Status at a glance.
Turn your phone sideways and LockYit uses the extra width: search and filters move into the title bar, buttons become title bar icons, and item details, editors and Settings show in two columns. On an item, Files, Sharing and the last update sit in a side panel you can open and close with the tab on its edge.
Items
Items are the individual entries in your vault. You can add new items by tapping the + Add Item button in the action bar at the bottom of the home screen.
Items can be of different types, such as:
- key Logins & Passwords
- credit_card Financial (Cards, Banks)
- description Documents (IDs, Passports)
- note Notes
- checklist Tasks
- folder And many more...
Search
Use the search bar at the top to find any item instantly. LockYit searches:
- Item titles
- Fields inside items

LockYit supports 43 different item types to cover all your needs:

Browser Extension
LockYit also offers browser extensions for Chrome, Firefox, and Edge that let you auto-fill passwords directly from your browser. See the Browser Extension guide for details.
Security
Your vault is protected by:
- Master Password - Only you know it
- Zero-Knowledge Encryption - We can't see your data
- Biometric Lock - Optional Face ID / Fingerprint
- Auto-Lock - Vault locks after inactivity
Keeping devices in step and sharing
Your vault lives on your device, but you don't have to keep it to one device or to yourself:
- Local Sync keeps your own devices (phone, tablet, laptop) in step over your local Wi-Fi network, with no server in between.
- Sharing hands a single item to another LockYit user, re-encrypted just for them, over the same local network.
Both work only on your local network while both devices are unlocked, and everything stays end-to-end encrypted.
