Security Settings
Configure how LockYit protects your vault.
Biometric Unlock
Enable biometric authentication to unlock your vault quickly without typing your master password. The type of biometric used depends on your device and operating system:
| Platform | Biometric Method |
|---|---|
| iPhone / iPad | Face ID (face recognition) or Touch ID (fingerprint) |
| Mac | Touch ID (fingerprint sensor on the keyboard or trackpad) |
| Android | Fingerprint, face recognition, or iris scan (varies by device) |
| Windows | Windows Hello - face recognition, fingerprint, or PIN |
| Linux | Not supported |
Biometric unlock is a convenience feature. Your master password is always used as the fallback if biometric authentication fails or is unavailable.
Enabling Biometrics
- Go to Settings → Security
- Toggle Biometric Unlock on
- Authenticate with your biometric when prompted
- Done! You can now unlock with biometrics
Disabling Biometrics
- Go to Settings → Security
- Toggle Biometric Unlock off
- Enter your master password to confirm
Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)
Add an extra layer of security to your account with TOTP-based two-factor authentication (requires a remote cloud session).
Enabling 2FA
- Go to Settings → Security
- Tap Two-Factor Authentication
- Enter your master password to confirm
- Scan the QR code with your authenticator app
- Enter the 6-digit verification code
- 2FA is now active on your account
Using 2FA
After enabling 2FA, you'll need to provide a verification code each time you login:
- Enter your email and master password as usual
- A dialog will prompt you for the 6-digit code
- Open your authenticator app and enter the current code
- You'll be signed in after successful verification
Disabling 2FA
- Go to Settings → Security
- Tap Two-Factor Authentication
- Enter your master password to confirm
- 2FA is now disabled
Disabling 2FA removes the extra security layer from your account. Keep it enabled if possible.
App Auto Lock
Configure how LockYit automatically locks your vault after periods of inactivity.
- Go to Settings → Security
- Tap App Auto Lock
- Select an inactivity duration:
- Never (not recommended)
- 1 minute
- 5 minutes (default)
- 10 minutes
- 15 minutes
- 30 minutes
- 1 hour
Shorter timeout = more security. We recommend 5 minutes or less.
