LockYit 1.3 is a security release. It adds more protection to your account, to the vault on your devices, and to Local Sync and Local Sharing. This post tells you what changed and what you must do.

Before You Start: Update All Your Devices

LockYit 1.3 changes how your devices talk to each other. This change makes sync and sharing safer.

  • A device on 1.3 cannot sync or share with a device on 1.2 or earlier.
  • A device that you do not update shows as offline.
  • Update all your own devices.
  • Ask the people you share with to update too.

You do not need to pair again. Your devices and your sharing contacts continue to work after the update.

More Protection for Your Account

Confirm It Is You

Some actions change how your account is protected:

  • a new master password
  • two-factor authentication (2FA) on or off
  • a new recovery key
  • the deletion of your account

For these actions, LockYit asks for your master password again. When 2FA is on, it also asks for your 2FA code. Thus, a person who gets into a signed-in device cannot change your account. See Confirm It Is You.

Signed Out Everywhere After a Security Change

A new master password, a change to 2FA or an account recovery signs out your other devices. Each device tells you why.

Limits on Wrong Attempts

After too many wrong passwords or codes, LockYit shows a countdown. When the countdown ends, you can try again. Correct sign-ins do not count. See Too Many Attempts.

Safer Account Recovery

The code from your email is not sufficient now. Recovery also needs your recovery key. When 2FA is on, recovery also needs your 2FA code. If you type the email code incorrectly, you can try again on the same screen. See the Account Recovery guide.

Other Account Changes

  • Verify your email first. You must verify your email address before you turn on 2FA. Verify now is the first action in Settings > Account.
  • Clear Data on Device signs you out. When you clear the data on a device, LockYit also signs that device out of your account.
  • LockYit tells you when an update is necessary. It also takes you to the store.

More Protection on Your Devices

Clear Clipboard

When you copy a password, LockYit clears the clipboard after 1 minute. You can choose a different time. LockYit also clears the clipboard when the vault locks. See Clear Clipboard.

Block Screenshots

LockYit keeps your vault out of screenshots, screen recordings and screen sharing. This setting is on by default on Android, iPhone, iPad, Windows and macOS 14 and earlier. See Block Screenshots.

Other Device Changes

  • Locked means locked. When the vault locks, LockYit removes your vault key from memory.
  • A wait after wrong master passwords. After 5 wrong master passwords on a device, you must wait before you try again.
  • Better protected search. LockYit keeps data to find your items. Your vault key now protects this data.
  • No app logs in released versions. LockYit does not keep a log on your device. It never writes your recovery details to a log.

Safer Local Sync and Local Sharing

  • Each transfer is signed. Your devices accept sync and sharing data only from the devices that they paired with. They accept each transfer only one time.
  • A stronger pairing code. The 6-digit code now proves each device to the other device. No other device can get between them.
  • Your device names stay private. When you add a device, the list shows only your own devices by name. Other people on the network cannot read these names.
  • See who you pair with. When you set up sharing, the pairing screens show the email and the device of the other person. Examine them before you enter the code.
  • Items stay with their items. Encrypted data that is copied onto a different item does not open. An older copy of the same item also does not open.
