Logging In

LockYit offers multiple ways to securely access your vault. Which screen you see depends on whether LockYit already knows your account on this device.

Opening LockYit

When you open LockYit on a device where you've already signed in, you'll see Welcome back, with Signing in as and your email address underneath. You don't need to type your email again, only your master password.

1. Open LockYit
2. Enter your master password
3. Tap Login, or press Enter

Your vault will open and you can access all your saved items.

If you've turned on Biometric Unlock, LockYit asks for your biometric straight away and you won't need to type anything.

Logging In on a New Device

The first time you use LockYit on a new device, sign in with the account you already have:

1. Open LockYit. You'll see the Create Account screen.
2. Tap Login next to Already have an account?
3. On Login to your account, enter your email address
4. Enter your master password
5. Tap Login

If you opened this screen by mistake, tap Create Account next to Don't have an account? to go back.

The email address you use to login is the same email address you had used to create your account.

You only need to enter your email address the first time you sign in on a device. After that, LockYit remembers it and you only need your master password or biometrics.

After you sign in, LockYit runs a short setup headed Let's set up LockYit on this device securely. It's the same Quick Setup as for a new account, without the Recovery Key step, because your account already has one:

1. Back Up Your Vault: choose where this device keeps its backups
2. Unlock with Face ID (or your device's method), if this device supports it
3. You're All Set

To use your other devices' items here, set up Local Sync after you sign in.

Biometric Login

If you've enabled biometric authentication, LockYit unlocks with just a glance or a touch, both when you open it and on the Lock screen.

LockYit uses your device's own name for its biometric:

How it works

1. Open LockYit, or come back to it after it has locked.
2. LockYit asks for your biometric automatically. While it waits, the screen shows a large biometric icon and Unlocking with Face ID... (or your device's name for it), with no password field.
3. Look at your device or touch the sensor. The icon gets a spinner and the screen shows Unlocking vault... while your vault opens, which can take a few seconds on some devices. Then your vault appears.

LockYit waits until it's fully on screen before asking, so you're only asked once.

If you cancel or the check fails

The password field appears instead, together with an Unlock with Face ID button (or your device's name for it):

• Tap Unlock with Face ID to try your biometric again. The password field goes away while LockYit waits for your biometric, just as when it asks by itself, or
• Enter your master password and continue.

LockYit won't ask for your biometric again by itself after you cancel, so it never gets in the way of typing your password.

Biometric login isn't available when you sign in on a new device for the first time, because there's no vault on the device yet. Setup offers to turn it on as soon as you've signed in, or you can turn it on later in Settings → Security.

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

If you've enabled 2FA on your account, you'll need to verify with a code after entering your master password:

1. Login with your email and master password
2. A verification dialog will appear
3. Open your authenticator app and enter the current 6-digit code
4. Optionally, select the Trust this device for 30 days checkbox to skip this step for future logins on this device.
5. Tap Verify to complete login

You can use LockYit's built-in OTP feature as your authenticator for other websites and apps.

warning

Do not setup 2FA for your LockYit account using LockYit's OTP feature on another device. It is not recommended. This is the only scenario we recommend you to have another authenticator app. It will be needed for setting up 2FA for your LockYit account.

Offline Access

Once you have signed in to your account on a device, LockYit works entirely offline. Your vault is stored locally on your device, so you can access all your saved items without an internet connection.

Signing in to your account is what activates the features tied to it - two-factor authentication, access to your recovery key, and the ability to manage your password. These are account-level features that require your account to be set up on the device at least once. After that initial sign-in, your vault remains fully accessible offline at all times.

LockYit does not require an active connection to your account for day-to-day use. Your vault stays on your devices: it goes elsewhere only when you sync, share, back up or export it, and never to our servers.

Auto-Lock

For your security, LockYit automatically locks your vault after a period of inactivity. See Auto-Lock settings for options.

When it locks, you'll see the Vault Locked screen with your email address. If Biometric Unlock is on, LockYit asks for your biometric as soon as you return to the app, just like when you open it. Otherwise, enter your master password and tap Unlock.

You can adjust this timeout in Settings → Security → Auto-Lock.

Available options:

• Never
• After 1 minute
• After 5 minutes
• After 10 minutes
• After 15 minutes
• After 30 minutes
• After 1 hour

Troubleshooting

Forgot Your Master Password?

Don't panic! If you saved your recovery key, you can reset your password.

1. On the login screen, tap Recover your Account
2. Follow the Account Recovery guide

Biometrics Not Working?

If you cancelled the biometric prompt, LockYit shows the password field and won't ask again on its own. Tap Unlock with Face ID (or your device's name for it) to try again.

If the prompt doesn't appear at all:

1. Ensure biometrics are enabled on your device
2. Go to Settings → Security → Biometric Unlock
3. Toggle it off and back on to reset the biometric registration for LockYit on your device

Locked Out?

If you've been locked out due to too many failed attempts:

1. Wait 5 minutes before trying again
2. Use your recovery key if you've forgotten your password
