Deleting Your Account
LockYit gives you full control over your data and your account. This page explains the difference between removing the app from a device and permanently deleting your account.
Clearing Data on a Device
If you want to remove all LockYit data from a specific device - without deleting your account - you can clear the local data.
- Go to Settings → Account
- Tap Clear Data on Device
- Enter your master password to confirm
All your local data and encryption keys are removed from the device once you complete the steps listed above.
This action is irreversible. All vault data stored locally on that device will be permanently deleted. If you have not exported or backed up your data, it cannot be recovered.
Clearing data on a device does not delete your LockYit account. You can sign in again on the same or a different device and re-import a backup to restore your vault.
Permanently Deleting Your Account
Uninstalling or deleting the LockYit app from your device only removes the local data and app files on that device. Your LockYit account on our servers is not affected.
You can permanently delete your account directly from within the app using a two-step email verification process.
How to Delete Your Account
- Go to Settings → Account
- Tap Delete Account
- Read the warning and tap Delete My Account to initiate
- An 8-digit verification code will be sent to your registered email address
- Enter the verification code in the app and confirm
Once the code is verified, your account is marked for deletion on our servers and all local data on the device is automatically wiped.
The verification code is sent to your registered email address. You must have access to this email to complete the deletion process.
Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Once deleted:
- Your account cannot be recovered
- Any data associated with your account on our servers will be erased
- All local data on the device is wiped automatically
- You will need to create a new account if you wish to use LockYit again
What Gets Deleted
When your account is permanently deleted, the following is removed:
From our servers
- Your account credentials (email and encrypted password)
- Your encrypted recovery key
- Any account-level settings (e.g. 2FA configuration, trusted devices)
From your device (automatic)
- All vault items (tasks, passwords, notes, cards, etc.)
- Local backup files
- Biometric authentication data
- Session tokens and cached credentials
- All app settings
LockYit is a local-first app. Your vault items are stored on your device, not on our servers. The in-app deletion process handles both the server account removal and the local data wipe automatically. If you have LockYit installed on other devices, when you login on these devices, the vault will be removed.
In some cases, you may need to use Clear Data on Device in Settings, on these devices to remove the remaining local data.
