Editing & Deleting Items

Learn how to modify or remove items from your vault.

Viewing an Item

1. Navigate to your vault or use search
2. Tap on any item to open its detail view
3. Here you can see all the item's fields, plus its links, sharing status, and history

The detail screen groups everything about an item in one place:

• Fields - every field of the item, with sensitive values (passwords, CVVs, PINs) hidden behind an eye icon (visibility) until you reveal them.
• Related Items - other items you've linked to this one. Tap any to jump straight to it. See Linking Items.
• Sharing - who this item is shared with (or who shared it with you), the access level, and any expiry. See Sharing.
• History - "Updated by <device> at <time>" shows which of your devices last changed the item, so you can tell where an edit came from across your synced devices.

Toolbar actions

The detail screen's toolbar gives you quick actions on the item:

• Edit (pencil icon edit) - open the item for editing.
• Copy all fields (content_copy) - copy the whole item's contents to your clipboard at once.
• Expand (open_in_full) - view the item full-screen, handy on larger displays.
• Duplicate (file_copy) - make a copy of the item.
• Delete (trash icon delete) - remove the item.

On narrow screens, less-used actions are tucked into an overflow menu (⋮).

Bottom action bar

Below the item, the action bar carries the most common actions:

• Share - share this item with a trusted contact. See Sharing.
• Related Item - link this item to another item in your vault.

When an item is shared, a sharing panel sits above the action bar so you can see and manage who has access without leaving the screen.

Copy a Field

Tap the copy icon next to any field to copy its value to your clipboard.

Auto-Clear Clipboard

For security, copied passwords are automatically cleared from your clipboard after 30 seconds.

Items shared with you

An item another user shared with you opens in the same detail view. If it's View only, the Edit action is unavailable; received items also can't be duplicated or re-shared. A note shows it's Connected via the device that bridges the share. See Sharing.

Editing an Item

1. Open the item you want to edit
2. Tap the Edit button (pencil icon edit)
3. Modify any fields you need
4. Tap Save

What You Can Edit

• All existing fields
• Add new custom fields
• Remove fields you don't need
• Update the item type (in some cases)

Reordering Fields

1. In edit mode, tap and hold the drag handle (≡) next to a field
2. Drag the field up or down
3. Release to set the new position

Deleting an Item

From the Item Detail Screen

1. Open the item
2. Tap the Delete button (trash icon delete)
3. Confirm the deletion

From the List View

1. Select one or more items
   • On mobile devices, long press on an item to enter selection mode, then tap the checkbox on the left of each
   • On desktop devices, click the checkbox on the left of each item
2. Tap the Delete button (trash icon delete)
3. Confirm the deletion

Deletion is Permanent

Once deleted, an item cannot be recovered. Make sure you have a backup if needed.

Undoing Changes

While Editing

If you made changes but haven't saved yet:

• Tap Cancel or the back button
• You'll be asked if you want to discard changes

After Saving

Currently, LockYit doesn't have an undo feature after saving. Consider exporting your data regularly as a backup.

Bulk Operations

LockYit supports bulk operations on items in the vault.

The following bulk operations are supported:

• Delete multiple items
• Duplicate multiple items
• Export multiple items

To select multiple items do the following:

1. In the items screen in the cards view, or the list view,
   • On mobile devices, long press on an item to enter selection mode, then tap the checkbox on the left of each
   • On desktop devices, click the checkbox on the left of each item
2. Tap the required button in the action bar

• Delete (trash icon delete)
• Duplicate (duplicate icon file_copy)
• Export (export icon download_2)

3. Confirm the selected operation
