Tools Menu
The Tools menu gathers the actions that are not tied to any one item or screen: creating a backup, importing a file, generating a password, and checking your recovery key. Everything in it is available from wherever you are in the app, so none of these tasks needs a trip through Settings.
The menu holds the same four entries on every platform, listed alphabetically. Only where it lives changes.
Where to Find It
Desktop
On desktop, Tools sits at the bottom of the left navigation rail, below the main destinations (Home, Notes, Tasks, OTP Codes, Local Sync) and above Settings.
Click Tools to open the menu beside the rail. The button stays highlighted while the menu is open and for as long as the action you chose is still running, so a long import or backup is always visibly attributed to the button that started it. The selected destination dims while Tools is active, so it is clear the menu has focus.
On a short window the rail switches to a compact icons-only form. Tools becomes a wrench icon with a tooltip; the menu itself is unchanged.
Phones and Tablets
On phones and tablets, Tools is the wrench icon in the top app bar, on the right-hand side. Tap it to open the menu.
The icon appears on the main screens. It is hidden on screens that have their own actions in that position, such as an open item.
On phones and tablets a sync activity indicator sits next to the Tools icon while a sync is running, and takes up no space at all when idle. It is not a menu, it is just an indicator.
Menu Items
Check Recovery Key
Opens the recovery key checker. Use it to confirm the recovery key you saved still matches your account, before you ever need it. It is read-only: it never displays your key and never changes anything.
Create Backup
Starts the encrypted backup flow, the same one in Settings → Backup. Backups are encrypted with your master password and are the recommended way to keep a copy of your vault.

Import
Starts the import flow. Pick a .csv, .zip, .txt or .kdbx file and LockYit works out how to read it: a LockYit export restores directly, a recognized password manager export is matched automatically, and anything else opens the column mapping editor.

Password Generator
Opens the password generator on its own, without having to be editing an item. Generate a password, adjust the length and character rules, and copy the result.

Export lives in Settings → Data rather than in Tools. It writes an unencrypted file, so it is kept behind its Settings screen and its security warning rather than being one tap from every screen.
