Search and Filters

LockYit includes a powerful, privacy-preserving search and filtering system to help you find anything in your vault instantly.

  1. Tap the search bar at the top of the Home screen
  2. Type your query
  3. Results appear instantly as you type

You do not need to type the full word - partial matches work:

  • goo finds "Google"
  • bank finds "Bank of America"

What gets searched​

LockYit searches across item titles and all non-sensitive fields inside each item. Passwords and OTPs are never included in the search index.

  • Search happens entirely on your device
  • No queries are ever sent to the internet
  • Search tokens are cryptographically hashed
  • Your search history is never stored

Filtering by Item Type​

You can narrow the home list to a single item type without typing anything:

  1. Tap the filter icon in the search bar
  2. Select an item type from the list
  3. Only items of that type are shown, and an active filter chip appears below the search bar
  4. Tap the x on the chip to clear the filter

Search and type filter work together - you can combine both at the same time.

Filtering by Shared Items​

A separate Shared chip lets you show only items that have been shared with other people. Tap it to toggle the filter on or off. It can be active alongside a type filter or a search query.

Searching within Sections​

Notes and Tasks have their own search bars when you open those screens. Results are limited to that section.

No Results?​

If you cannot find what you are looking for:

  1. Check spelling - try different variations
  2. Search differently - use the website name instead of the account name
  3. Browse manually - open the relevant category and scroll
  4. Check recently deleted - the item may have been removed
