Password Generator

LockYit includes a powerful password generator to create strong, unique passwords.

Accessing the Generator

From Settings

1. Go to Settings
2. Tap Password Generator

While Adding an Item

1. Add or edit an item with a password field
2. Tap the Generate icon (casino) next to the password field

Generator Options

Customize your generated passwords:

Length

Slide to adjust password length:

• Minimum: 8 characters
• Recommended: 16-20 characters
• Maximum: 128 characters

Longer passwords are stronger. We recommend at least 16 characters.

Character Types

Toggle which character types to include:

Option	Characters	Example
Uppercase	A-Z	HELLO
Lowercase	a-z	hello
Numbers	0-9	12345
Symbols	!@#$%^&*	@#$%!

tip

For maximum security, enable all character types. Some websites may not accept certain symbols.

Exclude Similar

Avoid visually similar characters:

• 0 (zero) vs O (letter O)
• 1 (one) vs l (lowercase L) vs I (uppercase i)

Enable this when you might need to read the password manually.

Exclude Ambiguous

Remove characters that could cause problems:

• Brackets: { } [ ] ( ) < >
• Similar quotes: ' " `

Using Generated Passwords

1. Configure your options
2. Tap Generate
3. Review the password
4. Copy to clipboard or Use directly in a form
5. Generate again if you want a different password

Password Strength

The generator shows a visual strength indicator:

Indicator	Meaning
circle Red	Weak - increase length or add character types
circle Yellow	Medium - acceptable but could be better
circle Green	Strong - good choice!
circle Dark Green	Very Strong - excellent!

Tips

Passphrase Alternative

For memorable but strong passwords, consider a passphrase:

• correct-horse-battery-staple
• sunny_beach_2024_umbrella!

These are easier to remember and still very secure.
