Upcoming Events
Upcoming Events shows the dates that come soon in your vault, in one list. LockYit 1.3.1 and later shows this list after you log in.
What is in the list
The list shows these dates:
- Task due dates. Each row shows the task, its task list and its status.
- Dates on your items. For example, the expiration date of a passport or the renewal date of an insurance policy. Each row shows the label of the date field, for example Expiration Date · In 5 days.
- Birthdays. A birthday item shows from its Alert me day until the birthday. See Birthdays.
The list starts today. It ends after the number of days that you set in Alert me before events. See Choose how far ahead to look.
The rows are in groups: Today, Tomorrow, This Week and Later. Use the search field to find an event by its name, its task or its task list.
A task stays in the list when you change its status, also when you set it to Done. The due date decides if a task is in the list. So the list also shows the tasks that you completed recently.
After you log in
When you log in, LockYit opens Upcoming Events if the list has one or more events. This occurs each time that you log in, with or without an internet connection.
When you unlock LockYit after it locked itself, the dialog does not open again.
Do not show again today
Select Do not show again today at the bottom of the dialog. Then close the dialog. Until the end of the day, the dialog does not open after you log in on this device. The Events button still opens it.
Open the list at any time
Tap or click the notifications_active Events button:
- On a phone or a tablet, the button is in the bar at the bottom of the home screen. It shows the number of events.
- On a computer, the button is at the bottom of the navigation rail on the left.
Tap or click an event to open it. A task opens on the Tasks screen, in its task list, in Timeline view. An item opens on the home screen.
Change the status of a task
You can change the status of a task in the dialog. You do not have to open the task list.
- Tap or click the status of the task, on the right side of its row.
- Select the new status, for example In Progress or Done.
LockYit saves the change at once, as it does on the Tasks screen. People that you share the task list with also get the change. The dialog stays open.
You cannot change the status of a task in a task list that someone shared with you as read-only. Its row shows the status without the selector.
Choose how far ahead to look
The setting Alert me before events sets how many days ahead the list looks. The choices are Never, 1 day before, 3 days before, 7 days before (the default), 14 days before and 31 days before.
You can change it in two places:
- At the top of the Upcoming Events dialog. The list changes at once.
- In Settings > Appearance. See Alert me before events.
With 1 day before, the list shows today and tomorrow.
Never
Select Never to stop all event alerts. Then:
- The dialog does not open after you log in.
- The Events button shows no number and does not move. It shows a crossed-out bell.
The Events button stays, so you can open the dialog and select another choice again.
Birthdays
A birthday item has the field Alert me. It sets how early the birthday shows in the list: On the day, 1 day before, 3 days before, 1 week before, 2 weeks before or 1 month before.
- Every birthday shows when it is in the period of Alert me before events.
- Alert me can only make a birthday show earlier. For example, with Alert me before events set to 7 days before and Alert me set to 1 month before, a birthday shows 30 days ahead.
- When the Alert me day is past, the row shows the date of the birthday.
Before LockYit 1.3.1, a birthday with No reminder (the old default) did not show in the list. From 1.3.1, these birthdays show On the day.
