  1. Make sure LockYit is running and unlocked on your desktop
  2. Click the LockYit extension icon in your browser toolbar

Desktop App Extension Settings

To manage your browser extension connections, open the desktop app and go to SettingsExtension.

Here you can manage the following.

  • Bridge Status: Shows if the extension bridge is running and the number of active sessions.
  • Pairing Secret: Use this to pair new extensions when prompted inside the extension. Tap to reveal and copy.

Connection Requirements

  • LockYit desktop app must be running and unlocked
  • Both the browser and the app must be on the same machine
  • No internet connection is required - everything happens locally
note

If the desktop app is locked, the extension will show a Locked status. Unlock the app to restore the connection.

Using Auto-Fill

Filling Login Forms

  1. Navigate to a website with a login form
  2. Click the LockYit extension icon or the in-field icon
  3. Select the matching credential from the popup
  4. Your username and password are filled automatically

Saving New Credentials

When you sign up for a new website or change a password:

  1. Fill in the login form as usual
  2. LockYit will detect the new or updated credentials
  3. A prompt will appear asking to Save or Update
  4. Confirm to add the credential to your vault

Security

The browser extension follows the same security principles as the app:

  • Local only - Credentials are sent over a secure local connection, never through the internet
  • Desktop-dependent - The extension cannot access your vault independently; the desktop app must be running and unlocked
  • Zero-knowledge - Your master password is never stored by the extension in the browser storage
